Gary Alte joined the band in 1990. He plays percussion and is a retired Digital Field Engineer for Toshiba Corporation.
Gary started playing the trumpet at the age of 11. He was in the Jr. High band and the marching band at Madison Heights High School in Anderson, Indiana. Shortly after high school he joined the Navy as a sonar tech. Fleet Sonar School in Key West, Florida had a small band where he played for different events. After six years in the Navy, he played for a few shows at Footlight Musicals. "Annie Get Your Gun" was his favorite. Gary also provided the explosion for "70 Girls 70". In January of 1990, Gary heard a band playing Christmas music at Washington Square Mall. It was the Indianapolis Municipal Band. Gary joined and continued to play trumpet. In 2001 he was asked to play the sleigh bell for the song Sleigh Ride. After that concert he began playing in the percussion section where he has remained. |
